Manchester United in Talks with Borussia Dortmund for Jadon Sancho Loan Deal

Manchester United and Borussia Dortmund are currently engaging in negotiations regarding a potential loan deal for English footballer Jadon Sancho, as confirmed by a source close to the situation. Dortmund has expressed interest in acquiring Sancho until the end of the season; however, they are requesting that United continue to cover the majority of his wages.

Despite being a promising talent, the 23-year-old forward has not featured in any matches for Manchester United since August due to a highly publicized disagreement with manager Erik ten Hag. Consequently, Sancho has been isolated from the first-team squad for the past four months and has been training alone under the supervision of club staff.

Although Sancho has attracted attention from other clubs such as Juventus and RB Leipzig, insider information indicates that his primary desire is to reunite with his former team, Borussia Dortmund. Sancho originally left Dortmund to join United in 2021, in a transfer deal worth a staggering £73 million.

Manchester United decision-makers have come to terms with the fact that Sancho’s future at Old Trafford is uncertain while Ten Hag remains in charge. However, the club is eager to minimize the financial burden associated with his departure. Sancho’s astronomical weekly wage of over £300k is a significant deterrent for most European clubs, including Dortmund. Consequently, United is prepared to assist with at least a portion of his salary to facilitate the loan deal.

Earlier in the season, Manchester United reached an agreement with Eintracht Frankfurt for Dutch midfielder Donny van de Beek’s loan move. In that particular deal, Frankfurt assumed the majority of the player’s wages. However, Dortmund is requesting that United cover a more substantial portion of Sancho’s salary, potentially up to two-thirds.

Sancho’s most recent appearance in a Manchester United shirt was as a second-half substitute during the team’s 3-2 victory over Nottingham Forest on August 26. Subsequently, he was excluded from the squad for the 3-1 defeat against Arsenal on September 3. Sancho took to social media to release a statement expressing doubt over Ten Hag’s reasoning behind his omission, suggesting that it was unjustified based on poor training performances.

Ten Hag has made it clear that he expects Sancho to issue both a private and public apology before being reintegrated into the squad. However, the talented forward has thus far refused to comply with these demands, prolonging his absence from competitive football.

Negotiations between Manchester United and Borussia Dortmund regarding a loan deal for Jadon Sancho are currently underway. The English forward’s preference is to return to his former club, Dortmund, but financial considerations pose a challenge. Manchester United is aware of the slim likelihood of Sancho having a future at Old Trafford under Ten Hag’s management, prompting the club to explore options to minimize the financial burden of his departure.
