Manchester United Agrees Deal for Midfielder Manuel Ugarte

Manchester United have reportedly finalized a deal with Paris Saint-Germain for midfielder Manuel Ugarte. The agreement is said to be valued at an initial £42 million, with an additional £8 million in potential add-ons. Ugarte is scheduled to undergo a medical examination in Manchester on Tuesday to complete the transfer.

Should all go according to plan, the 23-year-old midfielder could potentially make his debut for Manchester United against Liverpool at Old Trafford this coming Sunday, pending international clearance. This move marks United’s continuous efforts in bolstering their midfield area, pushing their total spending during this transfer window to over £180 million.

In an attempt to balance the books, Manchester United have also agreed to a £25 million deal with Napoli for midfielder Scott McTominay. McTominay has been given permission to discuss personal terms with the Italian side, potentially moving for his medical evaluation as early as Tuesday. Furthermore, midfielder Hannibal Mejbri is also set to join Championship side Burnley after successfully completing a medical examination on Monday.

Player Interests

It has been reported that Manuel Ugarte expressed his desire to move to Manchester United, leading to his omission from PSG’s recent Ligue 1 matches against Le Havre and Montpellier. Ugarte, who made 37 appearances for PSG last season following his £50 million move from Sporting CP in 2023, seems eager to start a new chapter with United.

Transfer Deadline

As the transfer deadline looms, Manchester United is expected to make more outgoing moves. There are talks of potentially offloading defender Victor Lindelöf, although complications have arisen due to a toe injury sidelining the Sweden international. Additionally, there is ongoing interest in winger Jadon Sancho from Juventus and Chelsea, with the possibility of a departure before the deadline if the right offer presents itself.

Manchester United’s latest acquisition of Manuel Ugarte signifies their continued efforts to strengthen their squad for the upcoming season. With several potential outgoing transfers in the works, the club is actively working towards a balanced squad ahead of the transfer deadline.
