Transfer Deadline News Recap

Chelsea is currently considering loan offers for 19-year-old forward Deivid Washington after rejecting approaches from two English clubs on deadline day. Despite being highly valued by his current club, Washington has only played twice for Chelsea since joining the club last year. Several Portuguese clubs have shown interest in signing him, and a potential one-year loan hasn’t been ruled out by the Blues this season. The youngster was recently linked with a move to Strasbourg, but the deal reportedly fell through after Chelsea pulled the plug on the transfer.

RB Leipzig defender Mohamed Simakan is expected to complete a €40 million move to Al Nassr, with a five-year deal already signed with the Saudi club. The 24-year-old completed his medical in Berlin and is set to arrive in Riyadh on Saturday. Simakan, who has played 85 times in the Bundesliga since joining Leipzig back in 2021, will earn €15 million annually at Al Nassr, including add-ons. He has also earned seven France Under-21 caps in his career so far.

AS Roma defender Chris Smalling is reportedly in advanced talks to join Al Fayha in the Saudi Pro League. Only a few details need to be ironed out before the former Manchester United player completes his move. Al Fayha have been working on a deal for Smalling for several weeks, with the Saudi transfer window closing soon. If the 34-year-old does make the move, Roma are expected to push ahead in their pursuit of free agent Mats Hummels.

AS Roma have reportedly moved ahead of Galatasaray in the race to sign free agent Mario Hermoso, who left Atletico Madrid this summer. Negotiations with the Serie A side over a proposed three-year contract are said to be close to completion. The 29-year-old has been in contact with Roma over the terms of the deal, and an agreement seems imminent.

Al Hilal have agreed on a €40 million fee with Benfica for Brazil U20 international striker Marcos Leonardo. The 21-year-old is set to fly to Paris for medical tests following the agreement between the two clubs. Leonardo has impressed during his time at Benfica, scoring eight goals in 17 league appearances. He is expected to earn around €5 million per year at Al Hilal, along with contractual add-ons.

Chelsea and West Ham United made late loan offers for Aston Villa striker Jhon Durán on deadline day. However, both attempts were quickly rejected by Villa. The 20-year-old Colombia international has been heavily linked with a move away from Villa this summer, but no club was able to meet their £40 million valuation. Villa did not have enough time to recruit a replacement before the transfer window closed.
