Celebrity Commitment: Paulo Dybala Stays with AS Roma

Argentinian soccer star Paulo Dybala made a bold statement on Thursday when he declared his decision to remain with AS Roma, putting an end to weeks of speculation surrounding his potential move to Saudi Pro League club Al Qadsiah. Despite receiving a lucrative offer of €75 million over three years, Dybala expressed his gratitude to Rome and confirmed his dedication to the team in an Instagram post.

Dybala’s choice to stay with Roma comes in the midst of uncertainty about his future, as he had been training separately from the first team and was absent from the starting lineup in their previous Serie A match against Cagliari. While entering the final year of his contract, Dybala’s commitment to the team ensures an automatic extension if he participates in at least 15 official matches this season, with a salary of €7.5 million plus €2 million in add-ons and bonuses.

Since his transfer from Juventus in 2022, Dybala has proven to be an integral part of the Roma squad, showcasing his skills in 78 appearances with 34 goals and 18 assists. The support from Roma fans was evident through protests outside the club’s training ground, urging the management not to let go of the star player. Dybala’s decision to stay has sparked joy among supporters, as they gathered outside his residence to celebrate the news.

Despite multiple attempts from Al Qadsiah to secure Dybala’s services during the summer transfer window, the player’s loyalty to Roma prevailed. Al Qadsiah, a newly promoted Saudi club, boasts a star-studded roster including former Real Madrid defender Nacho Fernandez and ex-Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. Dybala’s choice to decline their offer was met with enthusiasm from his teammate Leandro Paredes, emphasizing his commitment to the team.

By choosing to stay with AS Roma, Paulo Dybala has reaffirmed his dedication to the club and its fans, solidifying his position as a key player in the team’s future endeavors. His decision reflects not only his loyalty to the team but also his desire to continue contributing to its success on the field.
