Guardiola Confirms De Bruyne Not Leaving Despite Speculation

Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, has firmly denied reports linking Kevin De Bruyne with a move away from the club. Despite the speculation that the Belgium midfielder may depart for Saudi Arabia, Guardiola stated during a news conference that these rumors are unfounded. De Bruyne’s contract with Manchester City is set to expire in 2025, and although he mentioned last month that he is not ruling out a move, Guardiola is confident that the midfielder will remain at the club.

Guardiola also mentioned that he does not foresee any major changes to the squad before the end of the transfer window on August 30th. He expressed his satisfaction with the current squad, highlighting the quality they possess as being difficult to replace. Guardiola emphasized that Manchester City has made significant impacts in the market over the years, and any potential departures would be discussed internally.

City recently signed 20-year-old Brazilian winger, Sávio, adding depth to their squad. Guardiola praised Sávio’s abilities, particularly his skills when facing defenders one-on-one. Additionally, Guardiola confirmed that Kalvin Phillips, who was on loan to West Ham United, has been training with the first team. These developments indicate that Manchester City is actively working on strengthening their squad for the upcoming season.

Guardiola emphasized the need for fresh additions to the squad but cautioned against making too many changes. He mentioned that bringing in one or two players is necessary to maintain competitiveness but changing six or seven players would be unsustainable. Guardiola revealed that while many players express interest in joining Manchester City, the club is cautious about overspending and only goes through with transfers that make sense financially.

Manchester City is set to begin their Premier League title defense against Chelsea on August 18th. Guardiola’s reassurance regarding the squad stability and his plans for minimal changes indicate a strong belief in the existing team’s capabilities. City supporters can look forward to seeing how Guardiola’s tactical decisions and the new signings will impact the team’s performance in the upcoming season.
